Our Letter to Coach Knight
We figured that in order to get Coach Knight to Evanston, we would have to sell him too. So…
Coach Bobby Knight
Dear Coach Knight,You don't know us, but we would like to be a part of your devoted following. We met one time, but I think we would all like to forget that. Nevermind that. Our job here is to convince you to leave retirement and come to Evanston.
You may be asking yourself, "why would I do such a thing"? You see, since your depature, there is a void across Big Ten country. Most of the students in the schools throughout the conference have never known what it is like to be a part of the crowd when you are there. We know that must burn you up. Kids these days, can you believe it? What better chance is there to bring shame to and crush to your enemies and critics than beating them with the most pathetic program in major conference basketball history?
Ok, so a return to the Big Ten not doing it for you? We thought you might need more convincing. We know that values and ideals are important to you, they are to us as well. We know that you believe in students actually being students, going to classes and actually graduating. Well, here we already do a pretty great job of that. Those rates would be even higher if not for that wave of transfers a few years back. (We're talking to you Harry Goode)
Starting to check flights and look into the housing market? Ok, ok, we still have more great reasons. Now, we know that your legacy is already great, but think how much greater it would become if you could lead our band of lovable losers to success. The bar isn't even really set that high. This is a team that hasn't been to the NIT since 1999 (that was an exception) and has never been to the NCCA tourny. But don't fret, we aren't are total failures, we were Big Ten champs in 1931 & 1933!
We are glad that you have taken the time to read our letter. Please let us know when you want to come down, we can take you out for a great meal, and show you all fun the town of Evanston has to offer.
Sincerely,
The staff of Knight to Cats.com
